Plastic Material PBT

What is Material PBT?

PBT is an engineering thermoplastic with properties that make it an excellent choice for many industries. Its melting point is low and its crystallization rate is fast, making it an excellent candidate for injection molding. PBT has similar properties to Polyethylene Terephthalate, with slightly higher impact resistance. This material is also a good candidate for laser welding.

PBT is commonly used in electrical and electronic industries, including computer keyboard housings, plug connectors, and automotive parts. It is also commonly found in household products, including swimwear and false eyelashes. PBT is also UV resistant, making it ideal for the protection of UV-sensitive electronics. Additionally, glass fiber reinforced grades of PBT are effective fire retardants.

PBT is a popular plastic for many applications, and it is available in both unfilled and filled forms. The unfilled versions provide good machining support in extrusion and injection molding, and they are stress-resistant. They also exhibit good color stability. In addition to being chemical resistant, PBT is also suitable for many environments, including hot and cold temperatures.

How Does Plastic Injection Molding Work?

Plastic injection molding is a process in which plastic pellets are formed and injected into molds to form the desired shape. The plastic melts in a chamber and reaches a specified temperature, so the injection time has to be calculated correctly. Once the desired shape is achieved, the plastic pellets are cooled, and the mold is opened. An ejection bar is then used to force the solid plastic part out of the open cavity.
